Jog-a-Thon
Friday, March 22, 2013
On March 22, 2013 the students of Valencia Elementary School will be participating in our annual Jog-A-Thon fundraiser, Pledges for Progress. This event challenges our students to work together towards raising funds for our school-wide goals.
The role of the Valencia PTA is ever-growing. As state funding for education continues to decrease, our PTA continues to bridge the gap by financially supporting various events and programs throughout the year, such as school staffing, assemblies, science, music, art enrichment and much more. The Jog-A-Thon proceeds will benefit our goals two fold, by supporting these crucial on-going enrichment programs as well as funding our growing need to support technology.
Through short and long term planning, Valencia's technology goals are to work towards modernizing our school's technological infrastructure as well as equip our students and teachers with 21st century learning tools. These tools will allow our students to become engaged in learning that is individualized and diverse, while increasing a higher-level depth of knowledge in critical thinking that is real and relevant to their everyday lives. Through funding of this year's Jog-A-Thon, Valencia Elementary will be able to more readily reach these learners by providing these much needed tools.
If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to contact the
Jog-a-thon Chairpersons, Melissa Auten or Kellie Buckley.
